Dr. Patrick Hörl is the founder and Managing Director of the factual entertainment label AUTENTIC, part of the BETA FILM group, the biggest distributor of TV content outside the US. The company owns and operates pay tv channels in Europe and South Africa. It coproduces and distributes high-quality documentaries and factual series.
Hörl is MD of the pay tv channels SPIEGEL GESCHICHTE and SPIEGEL TV WISSEN, a joint venture between Autentic and Spiegel TV. Additionally AUTENTIC runs three channels on ON DIGITAL´s pay tv platform TOP TV. With its two VOD offerings FREE STAR and CINEHOME. AUTENTIC made its first step in the digital market.
Prior to launching his own business, Hörl worked as MD of DICOVERY COMMUNICATIONS in the German speaking regions and for KIRCH MEDIA and BAYERISCHER RUNDFUNK. Hörl received doctor´s degree of philosophy and diploma from the Munich Film School (HFF Munich).
Hörl is one of the founders of DOCUMENTARY CAMPUS and serves Chairman of the Board of Campus a pan-european advanced training programme for young filmmakers/aspirants in the fields of documentary film and factual entertainment.
Additionally Hörl is member of the Board of Directors of the factual section of PRODUZENTENALLIANZ and member of the Supervisory Board of the VOD platform GERMANY´S GOLD.
