For Uschi, the young farmer who has accompanied Matti Bauer though his earlier films USCHI, A BAVARIAN COWGIRL and INHERITING THE FARM, a new phase of life is about to begin. She is pregnant and expecting her second child in the summer. After much deliberation, she has made the painful decision to sell her dairy cows. Only the heifers and a few calves are left in the cow-shed. For Uschi, the unimaginable has become reality: She is not a dairy farmer anymore. Uschi’s six year-old son Jacob seems untroubled by the upheaval taking place around him and lives out an idyllic childhood on the farm and in the woods. Jacob always has a good explanation for his activities, which build upon the knowledge and understanding that he has already amassed on prior excursions. Amongst the dozen things that the boy says he wants to be when he grows up, he wants to be a farmer - and he knows exactly why: So that the farm can continue.
